Head of the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in Agouza Hospital until 1997. Doubled the size of the Gohar Hospital in 1981 to include new rooms and a neonatal intensive care unit.

Following his graduation 1987 from Cairo University, he completed his surgical residency at the National Cancer Institute during which he earned a Masters (M.Sc.) in General Surgery in 1992. He continued his postgraduate studies in England where he became a member of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - London in 1994. He was elected fellow of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - London in 2008.

In 1997, Dr. Hussein joined the Gohar Hospital adding to his grandfather's legacy and working alongside his father, Dr. Sherif Gohar. Today, Dr. Hussein continues to push forward the mission to provide specialized services to women of all ages. He recently opened a second location for Gohar Women's Health Clinic in the 6th of October City. 

Dr. Hussein is also a keen amateur photographer. Many of his photographs hang on the Hospital walls. He offers them as limited editions for sale with proceeds going towards hospital costs for surgeries performed for the underprivileged. View his photos for sale.
